For some years now  Aterini Sezzatini family has decided to give a new life to the farm. Next to the farmhouse there are a hundred olive trees from which biological oil are made. There are also many fruit plants. A few kilometers later, there is the “marroneta” that is maintained with pruning works and new grafts. There are about three hectares of secular plants of chestnut bordering the Cornate protected regional area. The harvest usually begins in mid-October: from the beginning of November chestnuts are placed in a “seccatoio” to dry, here the fire is fed day and night by the inhabitants of Gerfalco. On December 8th the chestnuts are taken and peeled with an handmade car. And finally they are brought in a water mill (which dates back to the eighteenth century) for stone grinding.
